Are you denying that a show aimed at a diverse age-group fanbase got overrun by men in their 20s and 30s who essentially appropriated the entire fandom for themselves and proceeded to display all the standard douchebro neckbeard behavior patterns, including pornifying the hell out of it, and doing what shitty computer literate douchebros do when they want to run someone off the Internet (which is harass, stalk and dox them)?

Gosh I can't think of why some of the SU fans might be just a bit leery of the same thing and yeah, they're probably overreacting being pre-emptive about it, but it's not like these phenomena occur in a vacuum.

AYRT

I'm not denying Bronies with questionable behaviour exist (although I'm not that familiar with the MLP fandom, I've only sorta casually watched that series and I don't live in the USA so dunno what it's like there, so it's hard to comment on the exact details), I was commenting on the fact that the supposed phenomenom of them invading the SU fandom to do the same there seems to have been largely fabricated by the less rational segments of the SU fandom itself.

The term "gemtlemen" for example was popularized by the SU fandom defending itself against them. Apparently some person who's in the pony fandom was considering making a SU fansite, the pony fandom as a whole proceeded to be disinterested in SU, some SU fan dug up a screencap some old Youtube comments where someone had considered the title "gemtlemen" to describe the SU fandom (and then abandoned the idea a few comments later due to it sounding ridiculous and unneccessarily gendered, but that wasn't included in the screencap).

A moral panic ensued with the SU fandom flipping their collective shit about all these supposed bronies calling themselves "gemtlemen" and trying to take over the SU fandom.

It was kind of an overreaction, and as an isolated incident it might've just fallen under this whole "misinformation spreads a lot on Tumblr" thing, but. They seem to need to have a similiar reaction against something new at least once a week. This definitely isn't going to make the fandom safe for kids, because of all these rules and regulations and the tendency to attack everyone who steps onto something unexpectedly explosive on the fandom minefield.

http://i.imgur.com/GBfasX2.png This was one of SU's fans reaction on Tumblr too, as well someone posted to treat "bronies as garbage so they would leave SU alone".

The cry of the SJW: "Bullying is awesome when WE do it!"

still AYRT

Rereading my original comment and your response, I'm actually a tad confused about your interpretation. I'm assuming you read the "From what I gathered, they probably didn't even exist" part and took it to mean that I claimed Bronies do not exist... which is obviously untrue. What I was trying to get across was that there does not actually seem to have been a statistically significant group of Bronies who suddenly took interest in SU and tried to take over the fandom.

If they do exist and I somehow managed to miss them while following the whole thing go down, source links would be useful.

Thank you for providing the link.

It does look more like a counter-reaction to the SU fandom's initial "stay away gemtlemen!" reaction than the other way 'round, though. Kind of like punching a hornet's nest because one thinks the hornets might have wanted to attack, is probably gonna make them attack for real.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-13 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
That did not, in fact, happen. Grow up.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-13 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Because only dudes pornify the hell out of anything, right. People can porn what they want ok, leave them alone.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-13 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
+1. I porn the heck out of Disney movies, and I've seen a lot of women porn similar media. It's great, and it's not hurting anyone. I don't see why men should be barred from doing the same.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-13 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
This.

As long as you tag it correctly so those who don't want to see don't have to, I do no see the issue.
