If anyone deserves a happy ending it's Neil. But he's not going to get it, because he 'gets in the way' of captain swan. Let the guy who was tortured, abandoned, and never allowed to be happy be able to be in his son's life? Nawwww, the shitty Jack Sparrow knock off who fucked his mother has to be the only father figure in Neil's son's life!

Neil was creepy and did a lot of self serving stuff. They started making his character Rumple the second that season they killed him. Probably better the character was killed off rather than sullied the way the other characters have been.

Though IA Hook need to die, but he won't because he's selling merchandise now and is a cash cow for OUAT.

-Self serving

Giving up his new family to protect them from Pan, giving up Emma because it was her ~destiny~, getting shot for Emma. Doesn't sound self-serving to me. Far, far, farrr less than Regina 'take him to my bedroom' evil queen, Captain 'fight for her then' Hook, or Rumple 'Fuck my son, magik baby' Stiltskin.

Ok, but are we going to forget when he gets sent back with the second curse and he was quick to sacrifice Robin's child and do anything to get Rumple back that; so much so that he got screwed over by Zelena? I believe he even commented how much he could be as self serving as his father then.

I mean if you tilt your head sideways and squint hard everyone in this show does something for a reason and has done some good (Rumple saved everyone from Pan, Regina was going to sacrifice herself a few times for the greater good etc), but it doesn't erase they all have bad sides to them.
