Right now? I'm not sure any of OUAT's villains should actually be redeemed. Rumple acknowledges he's a bad person who doesn't deserve forgiveness, Regina's apologized to Belle, Hook's working with the white hats... but the show's not interested in them working to remedy the damage they caused, or realizing that they puppeted, raped, and killed someone, ordered hundreds of people, including children, killed, killed her father, and locked up an innocent woman for 30+ years (Regina), puppetmastered an entire world full of people for a couple centuries, tortured people, traumatised his kid, killed his wife, and stood by as the monster he helped create slaughtered people (Rumple), or ordered his loyal crew to follow him into piracy on pain of death, sold a kid to a psychopath, bullied an old cripple and threatened to gang rape his wife, tortured people, clubbed a woman over the head, worked as an assasin, shot that same woman in the back after she saved his life, and locked up his presumptive lady love and her friends and mother to die of starvation.

Like, how do you make up for that shit? Rumple died, and that redemption didn't stick. All three have done monstrous things, and the ridiculous part isn't that any one villain gets the "oh poor woobie" treatment. They all do! On OUAT, villains aren't redeemed by working to undo the harm they've caused and helping their victims. They don't have to regret the shit they've done. Their victims forgive them, sometimes offscreen, and they put on their white hats.

Regina killed a woman and is going to end up married to said woman's husband with the little boy she always wanted. The fact that in another timeline, it was someone posing as her victim and they didn't actually die doesn't make it less creepy. The writers are bending over backward to retcon how gross that whole thing is. It's not fucking working.

Rumple froze his wife so he could do shady shit behind her back. Hook's a "hero," but instead of going straight to his allies with the news that Rumple was up to his old tricks, he tried to blackmail Rumple, when if he'd tipped Emma off the season would've been a lot shorter. I'm not seeing where in this whole mess Regina in particular has been singled out to not get her happy ending. It's being handed to her on a fucking silver platter, and will be taken away at the beginning of season 5, if this execrable pile of shit gets a season 5, to cause more "drama."

I used to love OUAT, back when, on this comm, even, I called it "actions have consequences, the tv show." Nothing has consequences any more. The characters aren't logically developed and their actions follow the shittastic plot rather than driving it. As for feeling sorry for Rumpelstiltskin, I kind of do. He was held in a cage for a year, his kid died horribly, and apparently now the woman who held him in that cage is torturing him some more. He's a shitstain, but I'm still pissed that he's being tortured for cheap drama. I don't know that I feel sorry for Regina. Her happiness goalposts keep moving. She's got Henry, the Charmings and co. are on her side, and the only person gunning for her head is the psycho retconned sister who'll be dead by the season finale. Now she "needs" Robin and Roland or apparently she'll be miserable forever. She's like the fisherman's wife who wants to be Pope.

Actually Zelena killed Marion, not Regina. And is no doubt doing the deed with him to rub it in her sisters face. And she got pretty damn rapey with Rumple when she had him captive.

And can I also add in Hook's really shit off screen apology to Belle and now they are besties to your list? WTF?

I think to a point Regina realizes what she done, but I don't know what the fandom expects her to do beyond what's she doing? Or any of the other villains for that matter. Like it's like the fandom wants some giant retcon to go back pre-curse to make amends and it will take all the villains magic to do it and kill them? Regina is trying to work for the village/people now. She's trying to change. I really do't think there's a Hallmark card or way to make up for it fully. It's shit she's going to have to live with and work beyond. The difference is Rumple does the same shit, gives no fucks and the writers try and make you feel sorry for him. I'd argue that they do try and make Rumple look better than Regina, and the fandom plays into it and is constantly scrutinizing her and other females harder than the male counterparts.

I will admit it's more the writers fault than anything. If we went by true fairytales, the heroes would win and villains would die. But they're be an never ending cast of one off ridiculous teletubby villains if they did that. And they are too wuss to give us a villain who they don't feel the constant need to redeem with swooping sad back stories. I feel like sometimes when the villain did die off (Pan/Rumple's dad) it worked more efficiently than this bullshit of it always being a domino effect of what Regina and Rumple (or their family) has done. Hell, now they are working at making the heroes to be just as shitty (MM killing Regina's mom, this whole mess with the babies so Emma can go evil). They are really running the show into the ground fast.

I'd like to say even if she has Henry and the Charmings (who killed her mom btw), why is it so ridiculous for her to want love too? The love of a son and friends is different than having a lover.

Actually what was worse for me then the fact that Regina killed Marion, (cause I do believe that people can change, and she can't exactly erase her past)... was her outrage at Emma for saving Marion. That Emma didn't think things through, (when she did her best to preserve the timeline).

No Regina you do not get to be mad that your evil dead was undone, you have no moral high ground at all.

>>The fact that we now know that's not exactly what happened, changes nothing<<
