Origins? Because it's first. Although, fair warning - a lot of people who like Origins don't like II as much. They're very different stories - Origins is a typical hero story, and II ... isn't.

I prefer II over Origins, but I'm in the minority there.

Thank you! Like I said above, I wasn't sure if it was one of those situations there there was games one and two, and then a prequel (Origins) (and the first game just wasn't in the bundle) or if Origins was genuinely the first game, and I was afraid to google it in case of spoilers.

I'll keep that in mind when I'm playing. :)

A lot of people who like Origins are old-school PC gamers who grew up on the likes of Infinity Engine games like Baldur's Gate and other unplayable messes that ran on realtime with pause. Old-school PC gamers are the worst people on earth this side of male comic book fans and Stormfront.

I prefer II as well. Man, I found the fighting mechanics in II a lot more pleasant. I just felt like everyone in Origins was fighting in slow-mo.

They're both awesome games and hard to compare... but Origins was pretty generic Tolkien fantasy. The characters were fun, it had that epic feel, but there really wasn't anything to the storyline that wasn't a well-used fantasy cliche. DA2 had a lot of problems (though I maintain they are solely a result of a insanely premature deadline, and they didn't get nearly as much time as they should've to work on it) but it's a lot more original, and the narrative is far more complex. And I think I like the cast better, overall. I love how the combat was smoother and faster, but it did get less... strategic? than Origins was.

And Inquisition, I think is the strongest in terms of narrative development, but the combat was severely simplified.

Inquisition is a bunch of barely related main quests, pointless repetitive fetch quests, beautiful but empty landscapes, and clumsily tied-up loose ends.
