40. Once a woman hits her late thirties the chances of having a horribly malformed or autistic kid skyrocket, plus she will probably struggle with the childcare duties. That is no good on her and no good on the kid. A lot depends on the individual woman of course, and her family history, but 40 makes a good "Bright Line" moment.

What about women who were told they couldn't have kids?

I know my parents went through YEARS of IVF trying to conceive and then my mom had surgery for her endometriosis and was told she couldn't have kids.

Well...when she turned 40, she conceived.

She did do lots of genetic testing, though, but fortunately my sibling was okay.

Like I said, a lot depends on the person, but 40 makes a nice "bright line". Got lucky, but still judgeworthy. No one has a right to children, I'd ban IVF and fertility treatments.
