I mostly just don't understand it. It mostly feels like an excuse to do graphics for the packaging, but then why not just do graphics? What does tea have to do with anything?

If they liked fancy tea, they wouldn't be drinking those blends. Not necessarily because of the fandom angle, but because no self-respecting connoisseur is going to drink that low grade crap that's full of cocoa nibs, flower petals and apple bits or whatever the hell people convince themselves is related to their character/fandom.
