Make sure you have a water jug to rehydrate in the morning, and use uber instead of driving. Also avoid gin, it will give you such a horrible mouth residue. Genuine Scotch from Scotland is what you want to be drinking.

...I was going to say that this thread isn't the place for that advice, but I realized that OP didn't actually request "advice on stopping being an alcoholic". If in fact they meant "advice on maintaining alcoholism safely and sustainably", then your advice is excellent.

As long as they are a functional alcoholic then it is no harm, no foul. It is as valid a lifechoice as any other. I'm giving them some advice on how to be functional. I mean if they are wanting to quit, then fine, their life, and frankly my advice will help them with that too. It really helps you quit if you manage to be functional rather than just a mess. Being functional is a good first step towards that too.

Amen to that. It's cool if you're holding a bottle all the time, so long as the bottle ain't holding you.
