This would work in Harry Potter Founders-era or pre-Founders era fic so well...I think?

You know, I've never seen fic in that era, but it sounds like an awesome idea. Especially with the alphabet.

It isn't out of the bounds of possibility for a Gothic-speaker to have travelled to England, and introduced their alphabet as an alternative to using runes for magic-casting. I believe the Gothic letters could double as numbers if written a certain way, so there's that numerological significance to them too.

that sounds like such a cool premise.

for that matter, is there a lot of fic on wizarding history in HP-verse? that sounds like such a fun thing to explore
