Huh. Most people I know who hate it are feminists who find Jezebel's brand of feminism extremely superficial and lacking, not people who think it's full of man-hating feminazis.

You're right I'm sorry, it takes power and privilege to be racist. If someone says something virulently hateful about all white people or Jews, it's because they're having a bad day. We need a word for the racism that lacks power or privilege.

Conflating "all white people" with "Jews" is disingenuous at best. I'm sure you know perfectly well that Jewish people have been persecuted and subject to exile and slaughter for a couple of thousand years, whereas white people, as a group, have not.

AYRT is committed to the idea that, because anti-Semitism is a thing, Jewish people do not have any kind of privilege in any place or at any time. In fact, it is impossible for them to do so.

Your position is that it's not bigoted to say virulently hateful things about white people, but it is for Jews, because they've been oppressed as a group, but white people have not? Or are you saying that because they've been oppressed as a group, hating Jews qualifies as "racism," whereas hating white people as a group is only bigotry? Or did you think I was saying that these things are exactly the same in every context, as opposed to saying they are both something Jezebel commenters do which are tacitly accepted by the readership and mods in a way that wouldn't be acceptable there about any other group? ... man, I looked that up because it sounded like it just couldn't be the whole story. I mean, I hate the guy, but surely... At first I was like "oh, it was in the 90s, and he says he regrets it, okay..." And then he continued on to say that he only regretted it because people got mad at him for it. He still seems pretty proud of himself over that comparison. Wow.

I was gonna say, when I saw it was Dan Savage I was like "wait he wrote an article critiquing this? uh"
