He treats you this way because it works for him, and because you stick around and put up with it. You stay because on some level, this works for you. Oh sure, you you don't like it, but you don't dislike it enough to DTMF. Which is why he keeps doing what he's doing. He knows your continued presence in his life is easily bought with little to no effort on his part.
