World War Z

World War Z would make an amazing TV series on like HBO or AMC. Also, that movie was an abomination. But even if it was not, a movie is just not the right medium at all.

I think it'd make a good mini-series, in particular! You know, like those sort of documentary mini-series that involve interviews and found footage and stuff? That actually could've been really cool!

Oh god, this would have been PERFECT, as the book was written that way itself.

I knooooow! Lost opportunity, weep. They really could've gone low-budget with it too, with the idea of picking up footage from people's camera phones and stuff!

Band of Brothers style!

I'm not familiar with Band of Brothers.

Best war series ever. Better than any movie I can think of as well. If you have ANY interest in WWII, it is a must see. Also has a bunch of guys who are very easy on the eyes.

I'll have to keep it in mind. War stories generally aren't my thing, but if it's that good...

Exactly my thoughts!

All we have is the audiobook, which is sadly abridged and missing some really good parts. It's pretty damn good as it is (with notably great parts with Mark Hamill as Todd Wainio and Henry Rollins as the really bloodthirsty bodyguard guy) but I do wish we could have video to go with it.

Maybe one intrepid fan will one day make sorta a slideshow to go with the audio!

The one good thing about the movie is that it got Random house to make an unabridged version of the audiobook. :D

For serious.

I'll admit, I haven't even gotten all the way through it yet (since boy it's long, but yeah! At least the movie was good for one thing!)

I think it wasn't a bad movie, but it shouldn't have been called World War Z.

If I ever see Brad Pitt, I am going to give him a mean look and tell him he ruined that movie. :

Given the format of the book, I agree, a TV series would have been better.

Relistening to it at work with coworkers. Still as good the third time around.

I liked that movie. Never read the book.

I just liked the atmosphere and how they used that to make things scary instead of gore. That film had me questioning shadows for a week afterward. Not to mention some zombie dreams a few nights as well.

I liked the movie too, but that was probably because I watched it before reading the book.

It's a very, very loose "adaptation". I probably would have hated it for being a wasted opportunity, had I read the book first. (Loved the book too.)
