I won't name names because it might hurt someone's feelings but I'm sick to death of a particular OTP someone in my fandom has. I really want to talk about my fandom but everytime it comes up, all we end up talking about is this OTP.

I know what you mean. In my fandom (Captain America), I'm kind of getting a little tired of how Stucky focused it can be.

AND I LOVE STUCKY. I love the fic. I love the characters. I love their relationship in the film, but it's like ice cream -- it might still be delicious but I do crave other things as well.

Yeah. I was fairly neutral on the pairing when I first heard about it. Not really my cuppa but not something that squicks me or anything.

But their constant talking about it has made me utterly loathe the characters in the OTP.

Aw man...it really makes me sad to hear this because they are such lovely characters. I get how it could get annoying though. The fans are just so enthusiastic. I will say that it's nice to have such an overwhelmingly positive fandom though.

Sorry, I misspoke! I meant that I was neutral on the pairing in my original comment. I haven't watched the new Captain America so I have no opinion on him or Stucky. :)

I've lost count of the number of previously neutral ships that have veered into nOTP territory for me purely because of the behavior of the shippers.

Well maybe since the new movie will be such a grab bag (I don't believe for one second Bucky will be a main player unless it because he'll be feuding with Tony) maybe it will focus on other pairings? I just hope not Steve and Sharon...

I was kind of hoping with Agent Carter that there'd be a resurgence of Steve/Peggy, but I don't think it did at all. Kinda sad because I think if AC get's another seasons I think they've already said the focus won't be on Peggy having memories of Steve.

Sadly, it would give it away. The OTP is fairly obscure and niche-y.

It's doubly sad because I can't say something neutral like "let's focus on this other thing" because they'd see what I'm trying to steer away from and likely still get their feeling's hurt.

Wow. I feel the same way about this one fandom my best friend is in. Like, we were marathoning the show Saturday since I hadn't seen it yet, but EVERY TIME this one character and then the pair with this character entered the screen, she squealed like we were 14 year olds again. It sort of killed my interest in this show.

I'll still watch it, on my own time, but damn do I have to blacklist it right now so the over saturation doesn't just make me NOPE right on out.
