What are some shows/movies/topics that are tired of hearing so much about (whether or not you love or hate the subject in question)?

Today on three podcasts I listened, they talked about Star Wars for at least 20 minutes each time. This would be less annoying if one them was not a World of Warcraft podcast. I fear the publicity machine and hype will make me despise the movie before I see it (I'm not a huge fan but some friends are).

I have also been sick of hearing about the Apple Watch. Apparently, all the podcasts I listen to have Apple fans. I now know far more about that watch than I'll ever need to know (especially for one who does not own a single Apple product).

I won't name names because it might hurt someone's feelings but I'm sick to death of a particular OTP someone in my fandom has. I really want to talk about my fandom but everytime it comes up, all we end up talking about is this OTP.

Gamergate. I know that no one rational is talking about it anymore, but unfortunately I'm friends with a couple of people on both the pro-GG and anti-GG sides, and I just want to shake them all until they stop talking or realize how idiotic and infantile the entire thing is. I'm about two words away from blocking the lot of them from everything I'm on.

Oh man, I'm with you on Star Wars (and I'm a fan of the series). I figure at this rate, just tuning out as much of the hype as I humanly can will not kill whatever potential hype I might have for the movie. That's easier said than done, but I'm gonna try.

Steven Universe, or rather, the fan wank that's been coming out of its fandom like clockwork over the last couple weeks. I like reading wanky fandom stuff as much as the next person who does as well, but the SU kind borderlines on being unfunny, given most of it almost always involves some pretty sensitive issues that aren't exactly mockable in my book.

Five Night's at Freddy's, full stop. I want to say the hype train is slowing down, but with a potential movie coming out in the future, well... :T

I agree on Star Wars. Never seen the movies, don't care to, and I'm not looking forward to them invading on my fandom spaces again.

Also, it died down for a while but is back - any talk of Homestuck makes me recoil.

Game of Thrones.

I'm not just saying this because I personally dislike the series, it is everywhere. I don't read The Guardian anymore because every day they have another three Game of Thrones articles right on the home page, including the sort that really piss me off - "Game of Thrones inspires (insert any other series that is of the fantasy genre, or the historical fiction genre because whatever?)" It's everywhere, and I don't even spend time in any fandom these days, so it's not my geekiness that throws it in my face.

I just want the hype to die so it fades where all other series are (including ones much more deserving of fame).

They just had Star Wars Celebration but I think now that that's over, it's likely going to die down again for a few more months. If not, then I'm with you. They'll probably overhype themselves.

That said, I felt like it was nerd nirvana this weekend with the new F4 trailer, BvS trailer, SW trailer, JW trailer - so much good stuff coming out.

And no doubt Avengers will blow everything else out of the water next week, and that's what everyone will be talking about.

I'm happy to talk about Star Wars, but I'm sick of all the mostly probably fake spoilers. How about we wait to talk about something until it is confirmed or at least very likely? But no, every little tiny thing someone mentions has to get posted on main sites and then discussed to death.

I'm really sick of negativity in general in some fandoms where it totally takes over and then is talked about as fact rather than opinion. It happens in quite a few fandoms. I have no problems with people not liking something. I do have a problem with them claiming their views are fact and/or shutting down those fans who want to be positive about things.

Eh, idk how much this qualifies but...people using the word "aesthetic" to describe things that really don't qualify as an aesthetic [seriously guys, it doesn't mean "I like this"]. I actually wouldn't mind it, except that I see it 10-20+ a day on my dash so it's starting to get a little wearing.

Definitely tired of Star Wars. But I feel like I've been tired of Star Wars my whole life.

I'm also getting tired of the Avengers press, I loved the first one and I want to see the second, but it's going into "Please don't overhype this for me" territory (I am often better off if I don't expect much from a movie) and I'm tired of seeing it everywhere.

MLP fandom and how bronies are "the worst thing evaaar", from BOTH sides.

I fucking swear between the "hurr ponyfag" on reddit and the "BRONIES ARE EVUL" on tumblr I am sick of how being a fan of this show is a big deal for so many people.

It's just another cartoon with a fandom that does fandom things and has a dark side like any other fucking fandom. Or how their being boys and men in the fandom is so eww.

I wish everyone would collectively just get over the fact that this show has a fanbase. I'm tired of hearing about it.

A reason I'm frustrated is that I don't even consider MLP anything different , just another cartoon I like , like a dozen others. Why is liking this cartoon a big deal?


(part of the reason I bring this up is due to the recent FimFiction DDOS which was on my day off and super inconvenient. Like, I would have been more understanding if it was site maintenance or updates. Not overgrown children throwing a tantrum that a site they hate exists.

Also even though I'm a female in the fandom, online I sometimes get suspected of being a guy and get all sorts of annoying bullshit and if I have to hear someone tell me what a creepy weirdo I must be one more time......Ughhhhhh

It's even invaded my damn dreams. Though addmittedly, that Thor dream was pretty goddamn weird and oddly enjoyable.

I'm sick to death of people complaining ad nauseam about Jurassic World. The first was a technical and mechanical achievement and now that technical means more than animatronics Universal is going to use that!

Though as someone who recently watched A New Hope for the first time and got a kick out of the physical props, I see their point. But just cool it.

Now the dialogue, I get. That's kind of cheesy.

I'm sick of how people in my fandom tiptoe around anything that could possibly bring negativity or wank. Like, I want to vent about the stuff that bugs me. I have never said to anyone that they can't enjoy it. But I shouldn't feel like I can't rage about shit I find stupid just because you don't want to hear anything negative.

And I want to be able to do something like start a thread to hear what other people thought was the worst scene in a movie; who cares if that ends up starting a fight? Maybe some debate would actually be a good thing.

Best waifu, girl, grill, husbando, robot, whatever. Especially Nisekoi. It killed that fandom for me.

I'm also really sick of people using whatever you like as a reason to discredit whatever your saying. For example; you could write a whole thesis paper about a famdom subject but someone see's in your profile you like some pairing that's disliked or you like a "problematic person" so they respond to your post saying "Everything you said is null and void because you like x thing" then people dogpile in IA's and insults. It's so stupid.

Steven Universe and most of the newest cartoon hipster shows. I just tried the first 5 episodes. Maybe they get longer, but I felt my IQ drop. That show is SO meant for the younguns it's not even funny. And Amethyst is SO annoying. She's like Rainbow Dash x10. And I can tell Steven is a sweet kid, but I found him annoying. Pearl is just..not interesting to me and Garnet and Steven's dad are like the only slightly interesting characters.

I know I watch MLP, but that show doesn't treat it's child audience like its still pre-school level. Steven Universe, on the other hand, feels like it'd fit right in on Nick Jr. That and the SU fandom is feeling remarkably similar to the Bronies, only it's fem dominated this time.

WoW, to an extent. I just don't like where it's heading...and I'm really irritated with the orcs right now. A Draenei and Orc expac and we get nothing but more fucking orcs.

The MCU. I just...didn't get into it really. I like the movies fine, but the fandom is just insane.

Headcanons that are so obviously SJW tic box bait. *once again, stares AGGRESSIVELY at the Monster High fandom*

I'm so over the apple watch. Uh Samsung's had one out for a year or more, a friend of mine got it for Christmas last year.

The only apple product I own is an ipod nano and that's because my dad won it for free and he had no use for it, so he gave it to me.
