MLP fandom and how bronies are "the worst thing evaaar", from BOTH sides.

I fucking swear between the "hurr ponyfag" on reddit and the "BRONIES ARE EVUL" on tumblr I am sick of how being a fan of this show is a big deal for so many people.

It's just another cartoon with a fandom that does fandom things and has a dark side like any other fucking fandom. Or how their being boys and men in the fandom is so eww.

I wish everyone would collectively just get over the fact that this show has a fanbase. I'm tired of hearing about it.

A reason I'm frustrated is that I don't even consider MLP anything different , just another cartoon I like , like a dozen others. Why is liking this cartoon a big deal?

(part of the reason I bring this up is due to the recent FimFiction DDOS which was on my day off and super inconvenient. Like, I would have been more understanding if it was site maintenance or updates. Not overgrown children throwing a tantrum that a site they hate exists.

Also even though I'm a female in the fandom, online I sometimes get suspected of being a guy and get all sorts of annoying bullshit and if I have to hear someone tell me what a creepy weirdo I must be one more time......Ughhhhhh

I agree for the most part, there have been some pretty horrible bronies that have done horrible things but like... I have trouble being shocked when I've been around fandom for a long time.

I also think the show is cute (I'm not really a hardcore fan, but I will always love MLP because I loved it as a kid) and this "EW BRONIES" attitude tends to scare people away who might like the show. Which is interesting because wasn't one of the problems people had with bronies is that they thought it was scaring away other fans?

The easiest way to deal with obnoxious bronies is to ignore them, There will always be terrible fans, they were there before bronies, they will be there after bronies.

Honesty I've met some obnoxious people in the fandom, and the reason many were obnoxious had nothing to do with them being dudes, but just general fan things.

The annoying hate watcher who sticks around to talk about how shitty the show's gotten and how people who like it are stupid and won't shut the fuck up about how he's leaving the fandom (God, just go already)

The know it alls, the assholes , the ship war-ers, and the regular stuff.

I mean there are sexist people and racist people I've seen but it's not like I haven't seen worse in other fandoms.

Yeah that all sounds like normal fandom stuff to me. I think the only thing about the brony phenomenon that is really unique is that non fandom people started to hear about it and for some reason people got fascinated by the more terrible side of the fandom.

I don't really interact with it much myself but of the few bronies I've encountered I've never really had a problem.

I couldn't tell you anon. Most of the "bronies" I know are nice guys. I am sure there are assholes but there are assholes in every fandom. And in some fandoms like SPN, the horror stories (ones that are true) are worse than anything I've seen in the MLP fandom.

SPN and MLP fandom both need to be banished back to the depths of hell from whence they came.

That's really not anything worse then what some furries have been doing for years. Even if MLP was gone furries are still a thing that exist.

And people have been trying to be rid of furries for years, it's just never going to go away.

I'm not an MLP fan, but i find the anti-brony reaction so eyeroll inducing. Like sure, criticize when they actually do creepy shit like dox a kid, but bitching that they exist is ridiculous.

Like "oh ew those boys are drawing explicit art of ponies fucking omg" "oh gross they made pony sex dolls! won't somebody PLEASE think of all the little girls who could stumble upon this!" and meanwhile the person saying it is writing a 500k word epic incestuous Elsa/Anna Thor/Loki crossover fanfic.

I honestly haven't seen much about the Bronies in QUITE sometime. I'm glad for that too. Cause as much I hate them, it got tiresome after awhile. Even Femenist MLP stopped reporting every little thing. I think anyway. Not sure if I left that blog or not. Or got kicked cause I wasn't 100% PC and SJWy the way they were.

That site isn't even that bad. I've read some GREAT fic on that site, which reminds me...need to see if that one author wrote anymore Ditzy Doo fic...

Honestly, I found the idea of trying to take down an MLP archive stupid, at least thinking from the standpoint of someone who disliked or was tired of seeing MLP fic.

Here you have an archive for all the MLP fic, with a lot of people, including myself, who ONLY post their MLP stuff there. If you took down that website, it just means more people would post MLP fic on the main archives. Which would only defeat the purpose.

It's unrealistic to think you can try and force people to stop writing fic for a thing. Even if they tried DDOSing all the main fic archives, which would probably get all the other fandoms pissed at them, people would still find places to post fic.

HAH, you're right. They'd just spread out all over instead of just in one spot.

What I'm sick about is obviously fake "I MET A BRONY ONCE" stories that keep popping up on Tumblr with thousands of notes in support.

Ugh seriously. It's so much easier to make up fake stories that vindicate you then to consider maybe you might not be right about an entire fandom.

Then again all the self congratulatory "I fought injustice and everyone clapped for me" stories you see on tumblr read like someone making themselves a Mary Sue of real life.

Oh you mean the ones that constantly say they prey on little kids? In which I have yet to see actual proof?

There may be one or two instances of a brony who raped or molested a minor (usually a teen) girl at a con, but that's it. But the stories saying they prey on little kids ALL THE TIME is like...everywhere. I've seen it in HERE.
