PoC!Hermione

Mostly because the fans insist it's canon. *insert Princess Bride quote here*

Do they have anything to support that or is it just one of those things where they think if they say it enough, it becomes true?

The support comes from the 'fact' that within the books, Hermione isn't given any kind of skin description.

tbh, I think JKR only uses skin descriptions as a means to point out PoC characters, such as Blaize Zabini and Dean Thomas, who are specifically refereed to as 'black boys'.

The only time i THINK she got a description skin wise was when she and her parents had been on vacation and she got tan. At least I think that's right. And that may have been the third or fourth book.

Honestly I wouldn't mind AUs where one of the trio was a "POC" or some other minority group.

It's just the claiming it's actually in the books that get me.

Oh, neither do I, really. It's when these fans get riled and bully other people over something that isn't in the books is when I really get sick of hearing about it.

I only really see people facetiously saying that it's actually canon. What I see most is people saying that there weren't any canon descriptions of her skin color (save for in PoA where she's described as having gotten "very brown" over the summer), so Poc!Hermione headcanons aren't any less legitimate than white!Hermione headcanons.

But the fandom gets uppity if you see her as white, like that ONE fanart that has a very angry Hermione yelling at everyone about what she is and what Harry is (they have him as indian).
