It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact people are only calling themselves trash because SJW are calling them trash for ~problematic~ ships. Or just people bashing a ship because they don't like it or it gets in the way of their ship. People start feeling guilty and creating an atmosphere that you should feel bad for shipping something instead of just enjoying something you like.

It's bad enough for some ships to have haters trying to make you feel bad, you don't need other fans tearing it down as well.

If your doing it as a self-depreciating joke then not everyone is going to get it. It's hard to convey intent over the internet or there might be cultural/language barrier or young people who don't understand.
