Pretty sure that we used the Norton Critical Edition when I went through it in college & I'd feel comfortable recommending that. The apparatus is usually pretty decent.

Also I hope you like it! It's one of my favorite books ever as see my rambly conversation with Dethtoll the other day.

Hey thanks!

I actually did read that the other day -- and it was part of the reason I thought of checking the book out again.

I read it in high school but at the time had A LOT of difficulty understanding it so I'm looking for one that has a bit more to it.

Yeah, I think this should be pretty good for that.

I definitely get why it would be hard, there's both a lot of historical detail, and also a lot of subtlety in terms of Marlowe's judgments, his mental state, etc that's really tricky to follow.
