Book Question

(Anonymous) 2015-04-21 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I keep seeing this book lying around in my local Doctor's waiting room, it is called "The Amtrak Wars" and from what I can gather is some sort of 1970s ppost apocalyptic novel. I kinda like that genre, but the covers sorta put me off. has anyone on F!S read it, and is it worth buying a copy?

I might be interesting. It's apparently more than one book, and you're looking at the newest reissue, it seems.

Haven't read it but, just going off my experiences with books like that, it's almost certainly just going to be a million times easier to take it out of the doctor's office, read it, and then bring it back

I've read it, very-long-ago. Person raised in a high-tech society is a fish out of water when captured by people from the low-tech society, becomes an advocate, etc. Good enough to stick in my mind, not good enough to re-read. I think some of the attitudes would come across as suspect now. There are several in the series, but I didn't read the last two or three.
