I feel you :/ I'm normally pretty relaxed about these things, but when something happens that threatens my financial safety (e.g. our family recently lost a major source of income), I just get all panicky. Like, "O Fortuna" starts playing in my head and I start mentally preparing to die in the gutter.

I found that thinking about what actually could happen in such a case helps. Like, there are always charities and government subsidies and stuff. Although it probably also has something to do with a high level of welfare in the UK.

You can also try accepting the fact that you can only do so much to avoid going broke, and it's unreasonable to fret and overtax yourself because of the fact that you can't do more than your best.

I don't even mind spending money on other people. It is spending money on myself that drives me up a wall.
