I sort of do this, but I was thinking I take a different approach to The Sims than to other games, and am definitely more likely to connect with characters from games that have built-in stories.

(I don't "play God" in an absolute way since I like to let some stuff happen on its own, but I love to build a neighborhood of people that I design, and then track it and watch who has kids and who marries who and keep a genealogy...I keep having to stop for various reasons so I really want to keep one going for at least a few generations)
