Well you say "more power to you", but you're not accepting the fact that people are taking this power and using it to express their liking for things... by being self-deprecating. Because that is the mode of expression they have chosen for themselves. I mean, they don't need to add qualifiers, they just do, because it makes them happy or whatever.

It's like we're graduating from telling other people what to like, to telling them how to like now.

Why do they need to feel self-deprecating about it, though? That implies that there's some sort of shame involved in liking whatever it is. There's no logical reason to be self-deprecating about something you like unless you feel on some level that it's bad/embarrassing/wrong to be liking it.

I mean, you never hear anyone saying "I really love [insert famous work of literature/Oscar-winning movie here], I'm such trash." No one has any problem expressing their like for something that's pretty much positively acclaimed. It's only when they feel that something isn't 100% perfect that you get people using that term, which sets a sort of concerning precedent.
