"Good for you, OP. I'm glad you have an escape from all political, all the time."
Your deduction might make sense if you misread my sentence as saying "escape from the political, all the time" but the phrase, "all X, all the time" has a pretty clear meaning. That's what gives it the meaning of "an escape from the constant, never-ending X" rather than "escape from X all the time, never to experience it"
Re: OP
(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)Anyway, no hard feelings, I see your point now.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)I don't think you were being sarcastic, but it would make far more sense if you had been, in terms of squaring it with other statements you've made.
The position you're arguing against seems, in all ways, like it should be your own. It's kinda baffling.

I really don't see how you came to that conclusion nonny. I don't recall ever arguing that everything should be held up to an ever-present political/sociological scrutiny.
A lot of my statements would logically contradict that idea, actually.

(haha, squirrel makes me think of Akatsuki no Yona but I doubt it's that, I mean there was an anime just now. Even though it didn't make huge waves)
Re: OP
(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)And no, it's not an anime. But if it's a pleasant fandom, good for you to be in it anyway :)

(Anonymous) 2015-04-22 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)Re: As someone who is in fandom and SJ communities
(I find it so frustrating how the overzealous SJW craze has made people so resentful and knee-jerky about actual SJ-related discussion because I think it's interesting and important)
OP
(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 11:36 am (UTC)(link)It's just nice to be in a fandom where people are not blind to such things, but the majority of discussions are still about the old-fashioned topics of storyline, style (in drawn media), pairings, etc.
Re: As someone who is in fandom and SJ communities
That said, no single form of media will ever appeal to every single demographic and minority ever. No form of media can be everything to everyone - it might have racial diversity but not have trans/nonbinary individuals; it might do great on discussing asexuality but doesn't show many Muslims in it. If you sit there constantly picking it apart and... well, almost looking for something to criticize, you won't be able to just enjoy it for what it is. It's okay for something to be fun - it doesn't have to have a political message or social commentary agenda all the time.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 02:30 am (UTC)(link)Text: i’m so happy that my current fandom’s anon matrial isn’t available in English! it makes me sound like a petty person (and I probably am), but for one time i want to read fandom discussions without the sjw crowd on tumbr (which is predominantly english speaking) constantly chiming in. i do think that social issues are important, i just don’t want to see posts written primarily for the sake of politics in the fandom tags, not to speak of the flamewars.
