I know someone who was sexually assaulted as a teen by a famous, respected, and beloved author (now dead).

I'd never name him, because I was asked not to. But I feel sick every time I see him quoted and lauded. Even though I used to love his work.

Same. I keep thinking of authors I love who have died somewhat recently.

Terry Pratchett? Brian Jacques? Lloyd Alexander? Googling authors who have died also gives me Tom Clancy and Seamus Heaney.

I'm going to guess Pratchett or Heaney of these, because I don't see the others quoted often.

I'm wondering if it was Prachett, mainly based on something he said about how women reacted to how he acted at cons [specifically US cons] in an interview...but from everything else I know I'm thinking/hoping probably not.

Other than that, I'm pretty grateful that the authors I really respect a great deal are actually still alive. >>;;

No, it wasn't Pratchett. Thank god. Was someone who died several years ago. Not as famous as Pratchett anymore.
