I really, really want to buy goth/lolita clothing, but I think I'm way too old to wear it in public, and I feel bad throwing around money for something that I wouldn't wear on a regular basis. Bonus points if it's cosplay stuff, like the Darling Amy pinafores. I really, really want one of these, but I can't bring myself to spend the money. :(

I think as long as you wore it at like a con or something it would be fine. Outside of cons, I think you get funny looks regardless of your age.

Dude, one of my favourite customers is an older woman (past her fifties) into lolita. She goes to meetups too, gets photos done (particularly when the weather/season has a good setup) and trust me she pulls off her wardrobe. Tbf, she's got confidence and does not take anyones shit (the community is so catty given what she's told me, but it's fashion snobbery)

Same. Wish I would have gotten into lolita when I was younger. I was goth during high school but wish I would have done it more. I stopped because the bullying I got from it went from verbal to physical. I think a part of me still listens and fears too much to asshole hecklers and keeps me wearing bland stuff I hate.
