Re: Things that put you off a series from the get go.
(Anonymous) 2015-04-22 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)2. Jokes for jokes' sake. I like comedy but jokes that sit outside the story, that feel like something shoved in during a story session instead of something that is a natural occurrence in the story that just happens to be a gut-buster, really turn me off.
3. Stereotypes. It's not so much that they're offensive, though they are, but that they're lazy. Sometimes they work if they're handled in a novel way (stereotypical character with an atypical trait) or if they feel, again, organic (stereotype character has an obvious reason for acting in such a manner.) But, most of the type, they're just a sign of lazy writing.
4. Three-cam sitcoms. Fuck. That. Shit.
