None of the above. You'd get more accuracy out of having your tea leaves read, anon.

I don't get this attitude

Is anyone really looking for "accuracy" in this?

That's like snubbing a "which game of thrones character are you quiz!1!" because it's, gasp, inaccurate.

Nobody can talk about horoscopes for fun either. No fun allowed

AYRT

Eh, yeah, I'm sour grapes about it. Much apologies, etcetera. Just had too many social workers/facilitators/HR people try to box me in with the MBTI over the years, that I tend to have a knee-jerk reaction to it.

True story: One facilitator had a program participant (not me) break down in tears because she didn't think the ABCDEF-whatever applied at all to her, and dude just kept banging on about "the test is always right, you must have lied on the test" (yeah, that reeeeeeally helped). The MBTI fans take a "The Test Is God" approach that just rubs me the wrong way. There's a really creepy culty vibe around it from the so-called "professionals" pushing it IRL, IME.

Here it's like asking what your sign is

In those situations that's pretty fucked up though, nobody should take this seriously, just like they shouldnt be deciding anything based on whether someone is a Pisces or not

wow, that's really dumb. I mean I was taken aback by your response at first, but shit, people really pigeonhole people based on MB like this? It's just a quiz with only 16 possible results and humanity is so much more varied than that - plus it's not perfectly accurate - I just...had no idea professionals took it that seriously :(

Bull. If you've ever done the full shebang, test+class, you would know that they tell you to take the answer you get, find out what each means, and then decide for yourself. The actual results are supposed to guide you, but they aren't the end all/be all of knowing yourself.

This pretty much. Although it was a counselor rather than a class for me, and it was very stressed that it doesn't box you in, and that ofc answers and types can change day-to-day, where you are in your life, etc. Sucks that their HR is dicks about it though.

I don't think that's quite fair.

MBTI is very deeply flawed. It's an estimate of a questionable characterization of a slice of personality. But I do think it is an estimate of personality - that is to say, it's capturing dynamics that exist, and it's making an inaccurate estimate of things that are really there.

It's a very imperfect tool. But it's not tea leaves. Sorry if HR is being dicks about it though.
