(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 01:07 am (UTC)(link)You're already contradicting yourself by saying that no one would read the fics you want to see - if someone else wrote them, you'd read it right? And unless you have very niche tastes in a very small fandom, you won't be the only one.
I admit I have a slight issue of entitlement with opinions like yours, if only because of my experience as the writer of a juggernaut pairing in a certain fandom and the constant demands that I write something else just because it wasn't fair that the ship I wrote was more popular than whatever the person complaining about it liked. They never tried making a thing themselves, just harrassed writers of pairings they didn't like and deemed "too popular" to try and make us write their requests on demand, as though that tactic would endear anyone to their ship.
The unfortunate fact is that no one else is under any obligation to cater to your taste, OP, and sometimes if you want to spread the love and drum up enthusiasm you have to do it yourself. Sometimes it works, and sometimes (see above re: niche tastes and small fandoms) it doesn't, but it beats sitting around feeling hard done by by the rest of your fandom.
