People are getting all if their information on American teeth from TV (where obviously there will be a greater amount of cosmetic dental work on display) and applying it to the entire US population while simultaneously decrying steretypes about Britsh teeth.

I don't know anyone with veneers. I didn't even know that many kids with braces back when I was a teen, and I knew penty of people whose parents could have afforded them/had insursnce to cover them. I rarely meet people with blindingly white teeth. Only one in recent memory was a woman who had just gotten married a month before and had gone to get her teeth bleached. Most people just use whitening toothpaste or home whitening kits, if anything.
