Why did you assume CIA agents are evil? I'm sure there are bad CIA agents, we know there are, but any system is bound to have corruption within it.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
As a general rule, making a statement that assumes something as its premise which many people would disagree with (for instance, all CIA agents are bad people) is a really awesome way to start arguments.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
hahahahahahahhahhahahahahahahhaa.

Oh. You weren't joking?

Try googling their history. Or "School of the Americas."

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
So your argument is that everyone affiliated with an institution that has done evil things is thereby evil?

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The CIA is institutionally evil.

Do you think some of the Mafia are good guys who just joined a corrupt organization?

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, actually, now that you mention it.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt

CIA has done more damage internationally and to more people than the Mafia (from South America to drugs to human experimentation and torture).

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
right?

It's like, we're already talking about an organized crime group, so I'm not sure what the use of talking about a different one is.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt - Some people started quite young and came from socio economic backgrounds where there weren't many opportunities. You take a teenager and show him men in his neighborhood who have plenty of money and food to eat, nice clothes and cars and respect, and you wonder why he might choose to go down that path instead of working a soul-sucking manual labor job and barely earning enough to feed his family?

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
This doesn't apply to the CIA though, which just goes to show the CIA is more evil than the Mafia.

It's political.

Always a good strategy to make your own viewpoint seem more righteous if you can call a whole group of the people you perceive as your enemies as evil.

'Republicans are evil, look how good I am for fighting them'
'Democrates are spinless, look how tough and strong I am for standing up to them'
'Gamergaters are all women hating scum, look how good I am for fighting the good fight'
'Antigamergaters are all unethical bullies, look how good I am for fighting the good fight'

Pick a side in any topic. The best way to feel good about that side is for the other side to be bad beyond all reason.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
but skub IS evil, anon

(Anonymous) 2015-04-23 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
this.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-24 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
The CIA isn't evil, but it's known for using shitty underhanded tactics in countries they want to obtain US interests, and it's been known to use torture. So.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-24 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
So... you're saying you agree they're not evil, but they're mean. So.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-24 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
So... basically like the intelligence agency of every other country.

that...sounds pretty evil to me?

Torture is pretty unequivocally evil, I'd say. The underhandedness is, if not evil, definitely very corrupt.
