Typical Norwegian small town with an asylum*, a lot of ignorance, a lot of us/them mentality, but as a whole it could be a lot worse.

But as I mentioned here before, my family would have bigger issues with me dating an immigrant than dating someone of the same gender as myself.

*Wait is the word I want? Eh Immigrant housing while they wait for their applications for citizenship to go through,.

It's not.

In modern english asylum for all intents and purposes refers only to places that house the seriously mentally ill, and has very negative associations.

I assumed so, but I was also too lazy to actually look up the correct translation, in my defence Asylum is the Norwegian word for it, but I was like 80% sure it was the thing you explain. What on earth do you call the Immigrant Housing then? The thing one of your politicians (Ed Miliband I think?) wants to put behind fences, which is a better plan than one of our political parties who'd prefer them to be in Africa behind fences. (direct quote, apparently all immigrants are from Africa, or maybe they want to fly everyone to Africa? We will never know...)
