(Anonymous) 2015-04-25 10:13 am (UTC)(link)As a fan of both trek and wars, I never saw such obvious similarities between the two so I don't get this vibe that JJ tried to turn trek into star wars. IMO, those who compare the two are fans of trek who are not fans of star wars and they have a superficial idea of what the star wars franchise is and they think it is a cheap version of trek.
JJ said that as a KID he grew up with star wars and became a fan of that franchise and that AS A KID he didn't 'get' star trek, but he appreciated it later AS AN ADULT and now he is a fan of trek too.
The trek movies weren't written by JJ anyway, they were written by Orci and Kurtzman who are star trek fans..
'Fans' can be the worst and the last person you should hire.
