If it is, yeah, I was one of those people who criticized Cox at first. But he improved greatly as the show went on. And by episode 10, I was sold. And he as Matt and Henson as Foggy, managed to break my heart in that episode. So, I stand corrected.
Even managed to slip in a slight New York inflection in the end. I am glad he is one of those actors that can improve rather than some others that never change no matter how long they are on a role. (See almost all the accents of True Blood.)

1. Cox is the lead and he is an English actor playing a New Yorker. So, OP's comments about lead actor's accent comes into play.
2. The red bird mimics the red costume of Daredevil
3. The streaming comment, as you pointed out. Netlflix just came out with Daredevil. And it's the "it" streaming title of the moment.
Thing is, the dust has settled and people actually like Cox. The majority think he's adorable and was and is great as Matt. Even I, who didn't like him at first, grew to like him.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-25 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)I can get used to it sometimes if I watch a show enough, and I can be forgiving to actors who have to act with a lot of cg (that tends to make almost all actors really stiff, which is partially why I hate too much cg) but even after I get used to that actor's performance I may still find them annoying.
Gotham?
(Anonymous) 2015-04-25 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)Because, ouch, I couldn't get past the main dude's acting, OR the terrible script.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-26 03:16 am (UTC)(link)Text: I’m getting annoyed by the trend in fandom to come up with increasingly snide ways to criticize the acting skills of the main character’s actor. Personally, I find his acting decent enough. Having the experience of publically failing at acting during a drama class, I could understand a little about the difficulty of acting even before the shooting process.
I find this fandom trend really petting due to 2 reasons:
1) It’S not as if the show is a live performance that we have to pay tickets for and watch for the duration of 2-3 hoiurs. Most of us are streaming episodes from the comfort of our own homes. All we lose by viewing a lackluster performance is our voluntary investment of time, yet the negativity generated is disproportionate.
2) Even if a better actor is cast for this role, it won’t improve the inconsistent characterization in the script very much. And if there’s just something about the character’s behavior that leads viewers to have a gut reaction of repulsion and hence project the traits of people they hate onto the character, then acting ability may not be very relevant.
The actor’s character isn’t even my personal favourite. I just feel the need to vent as a large portion of the vocal side of fandom devolves into an echo chamber of negativity directed towards a real person.
