People who expect follow backs crack me up because I have too many followers to follow everyone back. I would never be able to get through all the blogs that follow me.

Follow a blog you like because you like it, not for any desperation for followers. It's obnoxious to expect people to follow you because you follow them.

The whole desperation for followers thing is one of the things really throws me about Tumblr. Possibly because it leads to a whole bunch of annoying things. Not just the expecting follow-backs, but treating being unfollowed like it was a personal rejection and a cause for drama.

I saw similar shit on LJ and DeviantArt back in the day.

I admit, though, I do try not to pay attention to my own follow count, just because why get hung up on it? I actually stopped following someone because they would post pretty intense shit and then make ANOTHER post crowing about how people had left. It was like, "Dude, you don't know if they left because of that post." And then I realized I was avoiding unfollowing out of fear that person would think it was because I was a closet transphobe or something.

Then I realized all that was total bullshit and unfollowed and felt much better.
