My beef with gemsonas is that a majority of them don't look like they'd fit in the show at all. Gems have distinct silhouettes, and a lot of these designs don't always have it, or they're cluttered with way too much junk that wouldn't work well in animation. Just look at the pilot designs versus what actually made it to air.

And then there's Dou Hong, who while a phenomenal artist, comes off as borderline narcissistic with their gemsonas sometimes, like with that 'Dousona' week. IMHO, I'd like to see them file off the Steven Universe serial numbers from their gem designs (and maybe take some of their Green Lantern and Young Justice incidental designs) and make their own thing from scratch someday, because they are genuinely good designs.
