That's a nice attitude to have, OP. Why waste your time judging someone you've never met when you can see the best in J. Clarkson.

I'm kinda glad that his fame didn't save him from the consequences. That's good. At the same time I think that a one time event like this is not enough to fire anyone.

Because why in heaven's name would you be okay with a coworker PUNCHING someone? Especially over lack of a hot meal? That's ASSAULT.

I just don't understand how you can be so chill with this. It's not like he called someone a name. He freaking hit someone.

After a long day, under the right curcamstances, depending on how hard he struck - this is some of the things I'm thinking here.

Unless you are a boxer, punching a coworker is absolutely forbidden. It is that simple.

tbh I would think badly of someone who'll go the police for this. R Brand didn't go to the police.

Depends on the assault. The guy Clarcson punched didn't go to the police anyway, so no one's going to get charged any time soon.

Okay, maybe, but I'd say straight-up punching someone in non-self-defense warrants a police report.

Except that if you or I punched a co-worker, it's very likely someone would call the police and we'd have to face assault charges as well as getting fired. Neither of those things has happened to Clarkson: no assault charges, and he hasn't been fired from the BBC, his contract hasn't been renewed. Those are two different things.

Christian Bell shouted at the guy who was getting in the way of a shot thought, and he wasn't fired.

But he didn't hit him, as far as I know

Still it's simillar. A bout of unprovoked anger in both cases.
Note that at first the press said that Clarkson 'slaped' him, not 'hit'.

Shouting at someone and hitting someone are two very different things, though?

Sometimes shouting is worse than hitting, imho. But this's the point, yes. I think that if Clarckson hadn't hit him he wouldn't have been fired.

Do you regularly solve differences with people by hitting them, and do you think that's acceptable to do? Because I feel like that's the only reason you would feel it's okay for someone to hit a coworker.

Actually it's a perfectly reasonable question, and the fact that you had to turn it on the questioner makes one even more suspicious. Either you do think it's OK and you do do it, or you were trolling.

I don't think it's ok. I also think it's not enough to fire someone.
