2006, actually. I found it while looking for info on his new project with Marvel: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/john-ridley-developing-mystery-marvel-789605

To be fair, nine years is time enough to be embarrased by what you've said, but I've never heard him distance himself from it.

(Honestly, if he finally put out another sequel to Those Who Walk in Darkness, I'd still read it. Bad people can still be good writers.)
