I've heard the phrase "new black" used but I don't know enough about it to say whether it applies in this context.

New Black
Term coined by Will Pharrell during an Oprah interview. Mostly used in online communities, like Tumblr. New Black meaning, black people who do not believe in racism and/or do not blame white people for racism, don't hold racism accountable for any troubles in their lives.

Okay, here is what little I know about the g0ys. I would source, except the LJ that originally hosted that shit got deleted and purged, and I can't find citations in non-locked sites. I'm relying on my own recollection and this comment which linked to the original source before it got deleted.

Okay, so at some point, g0ys were affiliated with the Cockrub Warriors, who are also militant frottists but who I have slightly more respect for. Bill Weintraub runs the Warriors site, and he actually seems to have done some legitimate activism. He also survived the AIDS epidemic, which explains his thing about buttsex.

Weintraub and the g0y dude eventually had a falling out. According to Weintraub, this was on account of the g0ys dude's sleazy merchandising practices and adoration of the closet. See, the g0y dude is deeply closeted and specifically speaks of "discretion" as a value. He doesn't believe in gay rights at all; he thinks faggots should just shut the fuck up and stop acting so fucking effeminate. (And I won't even go into how he feels about trans people.)

I get the sense that the g0y dude does not have the AIDS trauma Weintraub does. Either he was so young he missed it, or he was so closeted and isolated that it passed him by. (Which wouldn't surprise me; whois.net claims the registering address for g0ys.org is in a small city in Arizona.)

From what I can see, the g0ys aren't that popular--and why would they be? They ridicule and deride all people who don't subscribe to their extremely strict views of gender and appropriate sexual behavior. They're homophobic, transphobic, and believe that since gay people think that's shitty, they're DOUBLY oppressed.

The only people I've seen who ID as g0ys tend to be young, insecure, and think that being closeted is a sign of their nobility and decency. I personally believe they're deeply conflicted about their own masculinity, and use the g0y label as a way to reassure themselves that they aren't like THOSE faggots.

I'm not sure whether you'd be familiar with this, but I'm suddenly reminded of Kanji from Persona 4, a deeply closeted delinquent who's repressed any hint of feminity in his behavior out of fear of being THAT kind of gay guy. I do know Kanji! I've even written fic about him on request once or twice. And honestly, I can handle it from Kanji better because he's REALLY young, and because the whole point of his arc is him getting OVER it. (Also, at least from what I recall in the anime, he seems to mostly hate himself, rather than taking it out on other people so much.)

When I said g0ys slant young, I meant more like, college age, not fourteen. (Though I'm sure there's some of them in that age range too.)
