Knowing how many calories you eat per day though, is different from knowing how many calories you SHOULD be eating, though. Also, the source of the calories matters too.

I know how many calories I should be eating.

I looked up the bmr for the weight I want (it's within the healthy range) and then multiply that by 1.2 because I'm largely sedentary. Boom -- that's my daily calorie limit.

As for the source, I mostly eat fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meat and eggs, lentils, and a little whole milk and cheese so that's not the problem.
