I LOVE Spock and McCoy's relationship. Their push-pull dynamic is awesome and if you prefer a littler more conflict/drama in relationships then I can see why it would appeal to you over Kirk and Spock's.

That annoys me as well.

He's called "human" in Twilight Princess as well (when you have the option to turn into a wolf and back).

His race is Hylian or Hyrulean. I'm not sure of the difference. I think Hylians are people with pointed ears while Hyruleans are anyone who lives in Hyrule.

LOL... I just think conspiracy theorists are kind of loony. The whole "did Shakespeare really exist/write those plays?" theory isn't quite as bad as people who think the moon landing is fake, but they're not all there, either.

I think, primarily, it's because his writing is very good. Maybe some of his outsized influence esp in the 50s and 60s is due to the kind of thing you're talking about. But he was a really fantastic writer IMO, you don't need to appeal to masculinity or anything.

I think it's just part of the mindset that's popular now where fans find out a horrible thing about their idol and then see their whole body of work as invalid. It's very black or white thinking, I agree. Lennon isn't an idol of mine. I admire him as a composer and musician and artist, but I'm not under any illusion that he was necessarily a great husband or father. But not everyone cares to (or is able to) distinguish between those two areas of a person's life.
