Uhm, why is this even a thing?

Also, I wouldn't consider it representation when you turn a non-Jewish character Jewish just so they can face discrimination/suffer :/

I think it would "count" if the writer did research into how American Jews reacted to WWII and what Jewish soldiers experienced on the frontlines as well as how they dealt with encountering Nazis. That's actually something that history isn't great at showing -- Jews are so often depicted as victims of the Holocaust (understandably) that the stories of Jewish soldiers tend to be overshadowed.
