McCoy is a better character than Kirk. Less irritating. Or maybe that's just the Shatner.

Since the OP also said they love Kirk and Spock's relationship, liking one =/= shitting on the other. McCoy and Spock's relationship is awesome all on its own, not just in contrast to Kirk.

(And yes, it's the Shatner. Kirk has almost absolutely nothing in common with the pop culture osmosis notion of Kirk, which is all based on Shatner-vibe, not on Kirk's actions. Kirk is actually a workaholic, over-exacting, bookish, businesslike, gentle, sly, tactful, thoughtful, almost-prude. He can put on a swagger like a pro, but it's almost always a bluff, and he does get a lot of tail, but that's almost always a bluff too, when it isn't dubcon inflicted on him.)

But this is getting off the more important topic, which is that people who say McCoy is blind and knows nothing about Spock and that Kirk is the only one who understands Spock obviously can't read between the lines worth a damn...
pantswarrior: Spock and Bones go "WTF". Unsurprisingly, at their captain. (wtf)

Ugggh, yes, or they think that McCoy honestly hates Spock/Vulcans and is a bigot, and Spock seriously thinks McCoy is a jerk and a terrible doctor.

ARE WE WATCHING THE SAME SHOW?

I always assume they just saw "The Galileo Seven" and completely stopped all critical thinking right then and there. It feels a little like sitting in a comedy club next to someone who doesn't get the joke. Especially when it comes to the most uber-blinkered Kirk/Spock shippers seeing The Tholian Web. Ah well.
