i don't think it's a great description, but i think the context complicates it and makes it less a description of modeling generally and more some weird shit that happens with famine

It's not a description of models, it's a description of what Famine does to people. His encouraging anorexia in the fashion industry makes sense to me. Unless you think there aren't problems with anorexia and body image in the fashion industry.
