I'm still pissed that OUAT made Hook's wanting Emma out to be a sign of redemption in itself. No. If he'd had a season to do the right thing in Bae and Milah's memory, as he was briefly poised to do at the tail end of season 2, I wouldn't hate Captain Swan nearly as much. Take away Emma, and his "redemption" goes poof. But then, the writing for OUAT has been going downhill in general since the end of the first season, and much as I enjoyed it, there was plenty of room for improvement even in season 1. Hook and his relationship with Emma are both gross, but they're hardly the only problems with the show.

Redemption requires regret, remorse, apology, honesty, and restitution, not just forgiveness or plot-convenient amnesia on the part of any particular character's victims. I like some of OUAT's other villains, but none of them are redeemed. Gold came closest, but then his death was reversed and Neal, one of the only genuinely good people in the OUAT universe, barring Graham, was killed off, all for more ridiculous drama. OUAT is a Disney soap opera, and not even a fun one anymore.
