Those who go on moral crusades are frequently hypocrites, and/or think it's different when they do it. They'll read your fic and then take to their Tumblr to squawk about how only victims should be allowed to write rape scenes, or only teenagers can write about teenager characters' sex lives.

My favorite personal example of this: in one of my fandoms, there are two incest ships. One of these ships is considered Very Problematic, and people will deride its fans for liking incest; accuse them of supporting incest in real life; and occasionally call them pedophiles (despite the pairing involving two adults). These people will then go off to happily ship the other incest pairing, which has been deemed Not Problematic for Reasons.
It's about image, and it's about getting to declare that those who have interests that differ from yours are literally bad people.

It's why I have so little patience or fucks to give over whether my ships or tropes are problematic. Literally every ship can be considered Very Problematic for some reason.

One wanker had a post on how to make fandom safer and one of her suggestion was that people who write noncon or underage fics should have a note explaining that they were raped and are only writing noncon/underage fics as a coping mechanism. So, yep forcing survivors to relive their traumatic event in front of a bunch of strangers on the internet just for the sake of a getting "pass" for writing fanfics. Ugh.
The grossest part is that many of the writers they've been bullying have been open about their assault but has that stopped the harassment? Nope, they're still getting threats of doxxing and they're still getting accused of being pedophiles or rape/pedophilia apologists.

It's not escaped my notice that all the major "anti-pedophile" players in this current Sherlock fiasco are heavily implicated in shota themselves.
