1. I'm always judgmental of the manga I see people picking up(mostly, I'm judgmental of everything everyone does, ever, because I am a judgmental prick who is always passing judgment, durr hurr), but I never give my comments to them because I hate talking to manga fans I don't know(LJ being an exception, of course ILU GUISE FOR REALS D:). I used to got to an anime club where you could pick out nearly every stereotype associated with otaku. And the smell.

17. I wonder if those faces were meant to be attractive.

RE 1: You pretty much mentioned almost every reason why I don't attend anime conventions anymore! :3

Sometimes I think if I tried going to a con, I would be overcome by RAGE and have to punch someone in the face.

Do anime cons smell like fried chicken too? Even when there is no fried chicken around? D:

Truthfully... it's not so bad if you go with friends... But oh, the drama, the CROWDS, the industrial sized cans of febreze being sprayed in the halls, the random shouting of badly pronounced Japanese phrases, they never tip the damn bell hops and... *Twitch.* To be fair - every convention as its annoying types and irritating bits... but I think I'm a little too angry and twitchy to go through Anime Conventions anymore.

Fans one on one are great. Fans in massive amounts are kinda frustrating.

Chicken? Not really. Kinda like... Sweat. Lots of sweat.

I love that Washington video. D:

Even with friends. I get really claustrophobic around crowds, especially loud, smelly, enthusiastic crowds. I stopped going to the anime club I mentioned because after attending the anime club at my high school on a weekly basis, my tolerance for anime fans had been warn down to nothing.

Yeah, individual people you can share your passions with are good. I'm glad I have friends with similar interests. Although I haven't posted a secret in this community because I know at least a couple of them watch it.

The anime club always smelled like fried chicken, which I have a feeling is a combination of fermented bodily excretions. Occasionally someone had a bucket of fried chicken, and oddly enough that didn't intensify the stench.

Fair enough! I can understand that. Most of my friends have moved on to things non anime related (and I've always been a bigger fan of western comics), so it makes no sense for us to really go to Anime conventions anymore.

Awww... I can understand that.

.... Random. Or maybe they rubbed fried chicken skin all over themselves like cologne. The new scent... Kentucky Fried PASSION! (Oh-la-la.)

I usually go with a friend after the school year is done (we both travel home) and we leave our brains, logic and whatnot outside in the parking lot and be "YAYLOOKEEE" for a few hours. (To de-stress) Then maturity comes back. Sometimes during a lunch break we'll sit around and be like "Did they just...oh no they did not." and overhear things (such as mispronounced Japanese as you mentioned) and just sort of look at each other/try to not to choke on the drink we just had a sip of.

I gave up on my local convention after they refused to give me a ticket granted there was 2 hrs left in the day. Maybe I was too 'plainclothes' but the volunteer staff were collectively trying to bar me from going by givng me silly reasons even though another volunteer told me it wasn't too late at all and to go to X-Table for a ticket. I have a personal reason on why I think they wouldn't give me tickets even though I had MONNIES out, but anyways. (well, in the city I'm doing my studies in--the city I lived in before had a nice University-based convention which is small and growing but it was nice to go to and I ALWAYS gave the comic book store owner on campus a visit since three of my friends and I would go on Thursdays or Fridays back in High School mind, his sales have begun to get better at the cons since it's more visible since everyone has to go by it now)

I've honestly never noticed a smell...though the one I tried to go to here did smell of...something. Just that I couldn't quite put a finger on what it was.... D:
