I could be really unhelpful and just say, start with the new season in March. But.

The mini-series and season one are both actually good, season two has some low points, and season three is... not so great. Good Kara episodes: Act of Contrition, You Can't Go Home Again, Hand of God, Kobol's Last Gleaming, Resistance, The Farm, Scar, Captains Hand--the show is mostly ensemble, so even when I say "Kara episodes", they're full of other people, too.

Mostly, if you can ignore the constant pretentious "look, we're doing something no one else has done, aren't we awesome?" attitude that tends to permeate the series, it's fun to watch.

Ah, thanks. :D
I started yesterday with the first episode, thinking it might give a bit of background. (Er, no.) But the story isn't hard to graps, so I'll be checking these episodes out the next days. (I, uhm, was accidentally spoilt. Season Three, Maelstrom?)

It doesn't measure up with Classic Who. ;)
But it's quite fun to watch some 'real' sci-fi.
