Their Ultron really didn't work for me. He was too snarky. There's really no good reason for Ultron to be snarky.

There's one specific reason, but it's nothing to do with the character and everything to do with being voiced by James Spader.

I thought it was implied that Ultron took on some of Tony's mannerisms? I'm thinking of the scene where the weapons dealer guy compares Ultron to Tony and Ultron freaks out. Wasn't there a bit where Ultron used Tony's voice when he calmed down and tried to downplay his outburst (à la Tony)?

lol Snarky Ultron was the only good part of the movie for me. Alas, one moe robot can not carry an entire film.

He was a Joss Whedon villain, of course he was going to be snarky. Whedon can write three things, wangsty, broody, or snarky.
