I guess you aren't pretending to be dead anymore so that whole plot from TWS was a waste of time(actually lets tack on ignoring TWS like it never even happened, IM3 too).

If you watch Agents of Shield, this would make more sense. There were/are former Shield agents who knew he was alive, so his finding 200 or so people to run the Helicarrier wouldn't have been impossible. Shield was/is a huge corporation. And with Stark's cloaking tech, it would have been very easy to keep it hidden. See- they still haven't found the Quinjet at the end of the movie, thanks to said cloaking technology.
