Yay! Your new house looks so awesome. :D I'm so happy for you! Do you plan to put anything in particular in your garden?

There will almost certainly be rose and rhododendrons. There additionally might be irises and hollyhocks.

We're also toying with the idea of putting in a koi pond at some point in the future.

As far as vegetables and fruits go I would really like to have an Italian prune plum tree and raspberry canes, and I'll have to find an ideal spot for a raised bed for tomatoes and peppers and such.

...I really like to garden.

Oh roses! Do you plan to have the antique kind? When we were kids, some of our neighbors had these ooooold antique roses, and when they bloomed, they smelled WONDERFUL! They were so pretty too, but they were very hard to grow in Texas.

I hope to get a tomato plant myself! My roomie has a bunch of empty pots she said I could have, and I like to have useful plants (even if I feel too guilty to trim them back when I should). Right now, I just have a tiny little aloe and that's just not enough!

I think I am also going to have to build myself a shelf for my indoor plants. I currently have a Mimosa pudica (sensitive plant) that my stupid asshole cat destroyed, and a panda plant that I inherited from my last room mate.

But I have discovered I like plants, so I will slowly fill the house with them when I get the chance lol.

Yes, I have already been looking at the rose lists for 2015 for some of the local nurseries and they do have quite a few heritage varieties. If I can I will see if I can get a climbing rose or two and plant them.

Oh and of course I will have to put in a herb garden as well. Rosemary, thyme, mint, oregano, bay bush, maybe some chives, tarragon... what is even the point of having a yard if you can't have fresh herbs?

Oooh, I had an enormous basil plant for a while, and having fresh basil whenever I wanted was DELICIOUS! Herbs are the best!

Rogan is having to keep the cat from eating the aloe--I'm not sure WHY a cat would want to eat something both prickly AND poisonous, but apparently this one does. It's why we have to keep plants outside or not in public spaces.

Is it Aloe vera? If so, it's not poisonous at all. In fact, it's quite nutritious to eat, even if it doesn't taste that great and needs to be de-slimed before you use it.

It's not poisonous to people, but apparently it is bad for cats!
