Hello! I don't know what games you have played, but I am like a HUGE puzzle platformer adventure typey gamey fan and I thought I could rec you some of mine. You did say Thomas Was Alone gave you everything you wanted, but honestly I think it's somewhat mediocre compared to a lot of the other fantastic offerings out there - which actually in my opinion is a great thing 'cause it means there's TONS more that you can and should totally try!

Some staples of the genre:

- Limbo (would be surprised if this hasn't been recced yet)
- Braid (same)
- Mark of the Ninja (technically stealth platformer, but holy crap, this game is SO GOOD, seriously absolutely try it)
- The Fall (recent adventure game, you might like it!)
- The Swapper (interesting puzzle mechanic, platformer type game)
- Year Walk (fun little horror game, it has a good internal logic to it)
- EVERYTHING FROM WADJET EYE adventure games but primarily: Primordia (must play, post apocalyptic awesome robots), Gemini Rue (seriously good noir science fiction) and the Blackwell Series (holy shit, a multi episodic game that actually comes to a REALLY satisfying ending)
- VVVVVV (if you are feeling masochistic play this - it's difficult but fair at the same time, and way more fun than it looks)
- Never Alone (nnnot actually an amazing platformer, but actually a really good game overall for plot and design)

Can I add in Nihilumbra? I forgot to mention it in the last thread. It's a platformer with a color-painting mechanic. You can make the ground blue and slippery so you can build up momentum for long jumps, or green and springy so you can bounce off it, or put slippery ground underneath a monster to propel it into a sticky brown wall . . . It's pretty inventive.

That's... basically the paint mechanic in Portal 2 (2011), which they took from Tag: The Power of Paint which was a Digipen student game from 2009, so while the game's presentation might be interesting, that particular colour-painting mechanic is hardly original or inventive in any way.

Oooh, I've heard of Limbo and Braid! I will have to check them out! What's Year Walk's premise? And Wadjet Eye sounds reeeeeally interesting!

Wadjet Eye is good games, generally. They're one of the best publishers for adventure games now, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming Technobabylon.

Year Walk is very short - took me under a couple of hours to finish. It's exactly as it says: there is a custom where you take a walk at the end of the year and try to see into the future. On the way you encounter things. It's hard to talk about it more without spoiling what sort of stuff comes up. I didn't find it horrific or scary as much as eerie, which seems to be what they were going for.

I'm excited! I like that eerie feeling, and I love stories about robots and adventure games. I'm glad to see they aren't totally dead.
